Earl has spent most of his life on the water. He was born and brought
up on the coast of Maine. His earliest memory is being on his father's
lobster boat in Friendship, Maine. Earl has skippered yachts and work
boats since his teen years and for 30 years he has held a Coast Guard
Captain's license and he now has his 500 ton Oceans Master License.
He spent six years in the Coast Guard Reserves, concentrating on search
and rescue. He was co-owner of a boatyard in Maine for 24 years and
owned and operated a 28 passenger water taxi year-round for six years.
Earl has a keen interest in marine biology and maritime history, which
is reflected in 'Bonnie Lynn's' extensive onboard library. He
enjoys sharing his love of the ocean with the guests that sail aboard
'Bonnie Lynn'. If they desire, he encourages guests to participate
in all aspects of sailing and makes them feel very comfortable.
Bonnie grew up in Michigan, but shortly after graduating from college,
joined the Peace Corps and headed to Fiji, where she taught school for
two years on one of the outer islands. From there she spent time traveling
in Australia, hiking/mountain climbing in Tasmania. She then moved to
New Zealand, where she taught school and enjoyed spending weekends and
vacations hiking and climbing.
On her way back to the States she visited several South Pacific Islands
and traveled extensively in South and Central America. Before setting
sail on 'Bonnie Lynn' she was working in adminstration at their
island school in Maine. She grew to love sailing in the mid-80's , when
they spent six months living aboard and sailing with their two sons.
She worked summers as first mate and chef on the 'Flying Fish' for 12
years. She helped to start a community sailing program on their island
in 1997. Bonnie also has her 100
ton Captain's license and when not working wonders in the galley, she
is on deck with the guests. She feels that each charter is unique and
she strives to make their experience equally as unique and memorable.
